Downs Arabian Club Inc’s Youth & Non-Professional Show

The weather was perfect on July 27 for the 11th running of the Downs Arabian Club Inc’s Youth & Non-Professional show.

The theme for the show was ‘Embracing the spirit of the newbie’ and it was wonderful to see several competitors attending their very first Arabian horse show.

The show aims to provide a friendly, laid-back and supportive environment for riders of all levels of ability to hone their skills and show off their beautiful horses. There were lots of smiling, happy competitors and there was plenty to enjoy, from complimentary home-made cakes and slices to the fun of the novelty and fancy dress events.

All the Winners

The high point awards are always hotly contested and this year saw an unbreakable tie in the under 9s division between Clare Fedrick and Morgan Lyall, both riding wonderful Arabian Performance Index geldings. Emily Larsen won the 10 -13 year division by winning every class she entered with her Partbred gelding False Alarm and Jessica Fedrick had a great show in the 14 – 17 division riding Hollie Webster’s Purebred gelding Artistry MI. The Non-Pro division was won by Stephanie Sammes with her lovely palomino Partbred gelding Chevralea Golden Cruise.

The Youth & Non-Pro show features Professional Encouragement Awards, chosen by the stewards and marshalls on the day for the riders and handlers that demonstrate excellent sportsmanship, consideration of their horse, perseverance and a positive attitude. The lucky award recipients this year each received a $200 Saddleworld Gift Voucher!
